We often get asked how long the tablecloth overhang should be when calculating the size of a required tablecloth. Today we will help you answer that question.
The answer is that it depends on a few factors. Formal tablecloths generally have a larger overhang than casual tablecloths. But for your home, we recommend an overhang of approximately 20 cm for each side of your table so remember, for your wipe clean square and rectangular tablecloths to add at least 40cm to the width and length of your table to allow for the overhang.
For your wipe clean round tablecloths: measure the diameter of your table (the distance from one side to the other, passing through the centre) and add 40 cm to the diameter of your table to allow for an overhang of fabric.
You want your tablecloth to drape over the edges of your table for a nice, neat finish. And of course not to impede your guests when the get up or sit down at the table.
